A total of P4,301,603.37 shall be used to provide subsidy to electric consumption of 42,980 MCOs within the franchise area of Capiz Electric Cooperative, Inc. under the Pantawid Liwanag Program for the month of April 2020.
The Board of Directors of CAPELCO has approved the program via their Board Resolution No. 85, Series of 2020 enacted on April 21, 2020 and entitled “A Resolution Adopting and Implementing the “PANTAWID LIWANAG PROGRAM” in the Franchise Area of CAPELCO, Prescribing its Mechanics and Re-aligning Budget from the 2020 Cash Operating Budget (COB) for the Purpose.”
The program is a response to “cushion the impact of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) especially to the marginalized sector of the community who are the most economically vulnerable and likely to suffer from the dislocation created of the spreading Covid-19 pandemic.”
Lifeline Consumers who are residential MCOs that consume 0-25 kilowatt hour (kWh) for the month of April 2020 shall enjoy free electricity. They are as follows:
The funds earmarked for CAPELCO’s institutional activities such as Annual General Membership Assembly (AGMA), BAPA Awards given during the AGMA, Reorganization of the Multi-Sectoral Elecrtification Advisory Council and Sanitation of Masterlist totalling to P4,930,000.00 were all re-aligned to provide for the subsidy.
This initiative is response to spirit of the Bayanihan to Heal as One and CAPELCO’s commitment to the welfare of its MCOs in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic gripping the nation. (RTC/SJVD)
