This committee hearing was prompted by the widespread power interruptions in Capiz, Iloilo, Antique, Aklan, Guimaras and Negros Occidental that happened on January 2, 20224 and lasted for <span><a tabindex=\"-1\"><\/a><\/span>almost 4 days thereafter presumably because of the collapse of the grid and emergency shut down of power plants in Panay. The incident has attracted the attention of the country\u2019s lawmakers and the Senate and House hearings currently being conducted is to know the real circumstances behind the outage and what policy reform can be undertaken to address the concern and prevent it from happening in the future. The House Committee on Energy is chaired by Congressman Lord Allan Jay Q.
