When CAPELCO adopted the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) to manage its substations, it greatly improved its capacity and efficiency in responding to emergency power interruptions and gathered quality data that it uses to plan its maintenance and expansion of its distribution assets. Piloted at Burgos and Lawaan substations, it recently included Panitan substation into the <\/a><\/span>system and plans to connect the three (3) remaining substations within the span of two years. The integration of all substations into an integrated SCADA system is a very practical and cost-effective strategy for remote administration, data gathering and analysis and real-time monitoring.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

As it expands the use of the technology, a core of young engineers of CAPELCO underwent a two-day training workshop to capacitate them to manage, maintain and even improved the system making it more useful for CAPELCO. With their introduction to database management module, these engineers can provide adequate, comprehensive and more accurate data that they can use for analysis, design and program expansion. Their introduction into the Human Machine Interface (HMI), these engineers can respond to problems more efficiently and to make faster and better-informed decisions.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Under Engr. Jeff Dela Cruz of Tekno Plus, CAPELCO engineers who participated were Peter Fons Nufable RME, Jobert Kim Compuesto RME, Kurt Shane Pomperada REE, Alex Dayo RME, Charmaine Barroa REE, James Andrew De Guzman REE, Queenstant Dianne Jean Banico REE, and Jonathan Cabasan REE.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

These young engineers who participated in the training were able to acquire the necessary fundamental skills and knowledge behind the workings of a SCADA operated system from working theory, practical design, compliance checklists, data acquisition and management, to interface design and control in order to be able operate and manage CAPELCO’s SCADA-enabled distribution networks.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
