CAPELCO not only participated in the deliberation to recommend the declaration of the state of calamity in Capiz and the creation of El Ni\u00f1o and La Ni\u00f1a Task Force but was also able to articulate the underlying reasons in the recent spike of the price of electricity.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

<\/a><\/span>Acting General Manager Engr. Edgar D. Diaz explained in details the components of the electric bills that increased which is heavily concentrated in the increase of the generation charge. Currently, the rate for residential consumers per kilowatt hour is P15.1371 where there is an increase of P1.3392 as compared to the rate in April which is only P13.7978. The generation charge represents about 64.47% where CAPELCO share only represents 12.38% of the total rate.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The spike of the price of electricity is attributed to the increase in generation charge where the total increase of CAPELCO\u2019s power bills has reached to as much as 95 million pesos for the month of April. This is aggravated by the marked increase of household consumptions due to higher heat index experience in Capiz.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
