Opening Program

Now on its 17th year, the annual tri-media initiatives of CAPELCO is an expression of its appreciation to the media entities and practitioners in Capiz for being in the forefront of delivering news and public information. This annual event is something that the media is looking forward to every year as a time for bonding, friendship and camaraderie and a departure from the day-to-day competition that they have for each other.
In his Welcome Message, Board President Engr. Salvador A. Asis appreciated the efforts of the media entities in Capiz for disseminating information related to the widespread brownout experienced in Capiz from January 2-5, 2024 and that has contextualized the real cause of the interruption.
The same message was echoed by Engr. Edgar D. Diaz and announced that this media partnerships of CAPELCO is now considered by the National Electrification Administration as CAPELCO’s “best practice.” Proof of which is the presence of Atty. James Balsomo, the General Manager of ILECO III to observe and to benchmark how CAPELCO is holding the activity.
Chief Inspector Stephen Jardeleza, Fire Marshall of Bacolod City was the invited guest speaker. He was a former Bombo reporter and he related how being a media practitioner have helped him introduce many improvements in disseminating information especially of things that matters to the public. He recalled his good memories in Capiz and how he looks forward to more reunions in the future.
Cyril Simpas of Todo Teleradyo in Capiz expressed his appreciation to CAPELCO for the event and shared insights how to be a successful media practitioner. He shared his long experience in the field of broadcast media and looks forward for a more consistent and objective media practice from among the younger breed of reporters. He was given a a surprise treat because Mr. Simpas is celebrating his birthday today.
Edalyn Acta of the National Union of Journalist of the Philippines (NUJP) also expressed her gratitude to CAPELCO for continuing the annual media event and confirmed that media practitioners looks forward to it.
The program was hosted by Mr. Alex Lumaque of Philippine Information Agency (PIA) and Ms Amy Berondo, Station Manager of K5 News FM.
