The National Convention of the Philippine Association of Board of Directors of Rural Electric Cooperatives (PHABDREC) started earlier today participated by Board of Directors from the 121 Electric Cooperatives in the country.
This annual gathering is expected to provide new insights on the technical, administrative, policy-making and over-all management of an electric cooperative. This year’s theme is “Achieving the Goals of Rural Electrification: Recognizing the Role of Enhanced MCO Engagement in Powering Filipino Communities” which underscore the need for more participation of the Member-Consumer-Owners (MCOs) to the affairs of the electric cooperative.
In the past years, CAPELCO, through its Board of Directors, has actively involved the MCOs though various activities, such as barangay visitation, information education campaigns (IEC), district elections, MCO Barangay level organizations and other venues where they listen to concerns, suggestions and worked on the actionable complaints of its MCOs. Given CAPELCO’s experience in the field of MCO empowerment, it is expected that they can share so much in the annual convention.
A Leadership Award was conferred to Director Dante B. Bermejo, CAPELCO BOD Vice President for serving as former national officer of PHABDREC. The affair was also graced by NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano “Nani” C. Almeda.
