CAPELCO, represented by Acting General Manager Edgar D. Diaz, is among those who were invited in the turn-over ceremony of the housing units to Barangay VII fire victims today. This is in acknowledgement to the assistance extended by CAPELCO to the victims during the fire and its aftermath. It can be recalled that CAPELCO personnel pre-emptively shut off power in the area affected by fire and restored power to households that were not affected after the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) declared FIRE OUT. During the fire, personnel stayed at the scene to monitor whether there is a need to shut down other distribution assets so as to prevent further accidents.
The day after the fire, Board President Engr. Salvador A. Asis personally visited the fire victims in their evacuation center to donate electric fans that they can use while they stay there. A team of CAPELCO personnel also documented consumer accounts of the victims and in coordination of the Roxas City Government, provided service drop connections to housing units at Tanza Ville that shall serve as the victimโs relocation shelters. A total of 107 housing units were energized by CAPELCO and these will now be turned over to the fire victims.
