Rev. Msgr. Reggie Pamposa who celebrated the Holy Eucharist shared that, the warriors of light are strong which serves also as the strong foundation of Capiz Electric Cooperative. He explained that we become weak if we succumb to temptations and that we have to be consistent in doing what is good.
He congratulated CAPELCO for its 53rd Anniversary and he hoped that all CAPELCO officials and employees must not only bring physical light but also real light into the lives of others by being good and leading a life of service and compassion.

ANNIVERSARY PROGRAM

June 14, 2024, Capiz Gymnasium

After the opening preliminaries, Board President Salvador A. Asis delivered his opening remarks stating that CAPELCO is currently a mix of the old and the young. The older one are about to leave CAPELCO while the younger ones are starting their career and both can learn from its other. The older one can teach the younger ones which the younger ones must in turn learn from these experiences because these are useful in their career at CAPELCO. In so doing, CAPELCO will revitalize and continue to evolve even with the periodic changes in the personnel and management.
Acting General Manager Engr. Edgar D. Diaz paid tribute to the former and current Board of Director and to all employees and recalled that his life is synonymous to that of CAPELCO history. He explained that CAPELCO was able to survive all the challenges that it had faced because everyone contributed to meet those challenges face to face. He also thanked the present and former board of directors for steering CAPELCO well into the right direction. He is a living witness to CAPELCO’s growth and development and as a gesture of gratitude, he requested all the managers and supervisors to personally welcome and thanked the board of directors present at the event.
Director Maricar A. Ojera introduced the Guest of Honor and Speaker whom she described as someone who have come from a family that has served CAPELCO. He recalled that the guest speaker is a down- to-earth former member of the Board of Director who returned to politics after his stint at CAPELCO and was elected Vice Mayor of the Municipality of Pontevedra.
Former Board of Director and currently Pontevedra Vice Mayor Hon. Fernie Oquendo recalled his experience with CAPELCO and some concrete contributions he had as part of the Board of Directors. He also shared that, when he ran as vice mayor, he adopted some of CAPELCO’s rules such as the DO IT RIGHT as his slogan because he believed that things must be done correctly. He explained that his experience at CAPELCO is one of a lifetime and this culminated when Olotayan Island was energized via submarine cable and when the Roxas City Office was inaugurated.
Vice Mayor Oquendo underscored the importance of electricity and given the circumstance, people’s expectations with CAPELCO. He encouraged everyone to strive for excellence and be committed to innovation, sustainability and community engagement.
In his closing remarks, Board of Director Mitchelle John B. Patricio explained that he is proud and grateful for being part of CAPELCO’s “journey of growth and unwavering commitment to serving our community.” He expressed whatever CAPELCO has achieved is a product of collective efforts of many and not just by few individuals. He thanked AGM Edgar D. Diaz, other managers and employees, former Board of Directors and his colleague in the present Board under the leadership of Board President Salvador A. Asis and he hoped for CAPELCO to work harder for a more sustainable future.
The ceremonial blowing of Anniversary caked followed and presentation of loyalty award to employees who have worked with CAPELCO from 10 to 44 years.

ANNIVERSARY ENTERTAINMENT

The night’s entertainment is a kaleidoscope of music genre performed by Signs of Time and the Power Band. Power Dancers also showed their dancing talents making the event more enjoyable.
