OPENING PROGRAM
After the opening preliminaries, the opening program followed. Acting General Manager Engr. Edgar D. Diaz underscore the significance of the event as a way to recognize the contribution of electric cooperatives (ECs) in the country to energize the countryside and to promote socio-economic development in those areas. It also brings to fore the contribution of lineworkers as the warriors who at all times serving the member-consumer-owners (MCOs) of the ECs. It also highlights the conduct of operational activities such as its line clearing operation and to replace the trees being cut in the powerline corridors by planting trees in other areas.
BOD Vice President Dante B. Bermejo highlighted the significance of the theme “Keeping the Lights On” implying that, to achieve such mandate, an organization must be united and ready to face its various challenges. The conduct of this activity is a way to strengthen CAPELCO as an organization by establishing camaraderie between and among the employees and to nurture the value of respect for each other. This event is also aimed at highlighting competition in the workplace in the spirit of fun and joy. Director Gilbert G. Upod led and Oath of Sportsmanship.
Dr. Rene Huinda also shared a presentation on health and wellness and how to achieve healthy lifestyle. He encouraged the employees to enhance their health-seeking behavior because as everyone gets older, they need to seek regular medical consultation. As the invited speaker for the event, he provided insights on the necessity of being healthy and shared ways to achieve a healthy and fulfilled career and family life.
Optiquest under its E-Consulta program provided free blood typing, blood pressure test and glucose test. The Zumba exercises actively participated by CAPELCO employees closed the opening ceremonies of CAPELCO’S celebration of the 2024 National Electrification Awareness Month.
