2025 REGIONAL LINEMEN RODEO COMPETITION: CAPELCO WARRIORS OF LIGHT BAGGED AWARDS

The Electric Cooperatives Association of Region VI (ECAR VI) and the Philippine Association of Technical Managers of Electric Cooperative โ€“ Region VI (PHILATMEC-VI) successfully hosted the 2025 Regional Linemen Rodeo Competition on March 21, 2025, at the ILECO III Grounds in Brgy. Preciosa, Sara, Iloilo.
Nine electric cooperatives from Region VI participated in the event, including ANTECO ( Antique Electric Cooperative, Inc), AKELCO ( Aklan Electric Cooperative, Inc.), CAPELCO ( Capiz Electric Cooperative, Inc.), GUIMELCO (Guimaras Electric Cooperative, Inc.), ILECO I( iloilo I Electric Cooperative, Inc.), ILECO II ( Iloilo II Electric Cooperative, Inc.), ILECO III (Iloilo III Electric Cooperative , Inc.), NOCECO(Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative, Inc.), and NONECO (Northern Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc.).
The competition featured various categories, such as:
Pole Climbing Relay
Wood Pole Erection
Emergency Response and First Aid
Conductor Riding Relay
Knot Tying
Pole Dressing
Pole Undressing
Rodeo King
CAPELCO took home top honors in several categories:
– 1st Place in Pole Undressing,
– 2nd Place in Pole Dressing
-3rd Place in Conductor Riding.
-Mr. Ross V Fadirugao of TSD Panitan represented CAPELCO in the Rodeo King Category.
The CAPELCO team, led by Ramel Distura and Gerald Condino, showcased exceptional skills and teamwork. Other participating linemen from CAPELCO included Jomar Dipon, Rodel Sombilla, Kenny Erwin Cordovero, Ross V Fadirugao, Roben Daliva, Carmelo Daliva, Marc Ben Batuampo, Juniel Avaricio, Reniel Mark Dela Cruz, John Kenneth Marcelino Benjie Borbon, Joel Flores, Eugene Taborda, and Jeffson Lacorte. Engr. Don Baticados and Engr. Junner Gonzales served as judges during the competition.
The winners will move on to compete at the Visayas-Wide Linemen Rodeo Competition in Aklan, representing Region VI. This event promotes unity and camaraderie among participating electric cooperatives, recognizing the skills and potentials of our Warriors of Light.
