On March 16, 2009, the President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo issued Proclamation 1743 declaring the month of August every year as โ€œNATIONAL ELECTRIFICATION AWARENESS MONTHโ€ to highlight its importance in the socio-economic development of the country. The National Electrification Administration (NEA) and electric cooperatives endeavors to highlights their initiatives in the promotion of rural electrification and countryside development.
